Welcome to your new school! We are very happy that you will be joining Danesfield School, and we look forward to meeting you, whether you are starting school for the first time or joining mid term.
At Danesfield we welcome pupils arriving at any stage of their primary education journey, and we have many different strategies in place to ensure that the transition into or between schools is as smooth and positive as possible. We hope you will find the majority of the information you need in our Welcome Pack which can be found under the Admissions section.
The ‘Our School’ section of our website contains additional information you may find useful: School Calendar and Class Timetables, Forms and useful information about day-to-day school life. The PTA are very active in arranging a wide variety of social events during the school year - do take a look at their dedicated website.
We hope that you enjoy your time at Danesfield School. If you have any questions, please contact the school office where the staff are always more than happy to assist.
If you are a Service family, then you may wish to contact Debbie Brettle, the Service Children Support Coordinator (SCSCo) at Danesfield School.
The purpose of her role as Service Children Support Coordinator is to support the needs of Service children in the school environment. Working alongside the current policies and procedures in place at the school, Debbie can offer additional support for Service children and families at times that can present challenges such as:
- During times of transition in and out of educational settings, both within the UK and overseas
- During times of parental deployment
- As school friends are posted away
- At other times of wider need
Our Ofsted report in June 2017, states: " Parents praise the school for the nurturing welcome they and their children receive when they start school. Pupils who join the school part way through a year or key stage are cared for especially well. This includes the many service children whose families serve in the Royal Air Force. These pupils speak warmly of the extra support they receive to help them settle in quickly and learn well. For example, many value the 'Poppy Club' where they meet up with pupils with similar experiences. Pupils especially praise the exceptional work of the Service Children Support Coordinator, who is always willing to listen to any concerns they may have. "
Debbie Brettle can be contacted via the school office.
